Helen Teague, is an International school teacher who was the first one at her school to dial up an internet connection. Through her knowledge about computers and software she was able to educate her principal and other teachers who were not yet familiar with internet connections. She developed her own trainings and named them OOPS: Our Overnight Planning System. She designed her website so that others could search and learn more about how to use “OOPS” in the classrooms to encourage success in the classroom. Her OOPS website appears with links such as a blog page.

Another international educator uses her blog web page to create highlights of how to complete web designs, how to do still photographs, and how to work a digital video. Many of the information that she has posted seems to have links to more resources that will allow one to gain knowledge about the particular subject matter. It appears that she is preparing her students for an upcoming event and is hoping that by providing them with basic knowledge about the subject matter they will be able to make comments and gain feedback about how to efficiently complete the task.

It seems that the international world are somewhat behind America with their knowledge about blogging. Some of the fault can probably be because of lack of resources. Others might say that many countries are not as advanced in technology in order to share knowledge with other countries. However, many of the differences are those that require much attention and have not been handled at this point.
Because American’s are said to have more “resources” than many other countries, they probably have more knowledge about technology and how it relates to every subject matter. Much of the resources that use in the classrooms are available at any time. We don’t have to go to the library anymore to obtain information. Therefore, online resources are a useful tool to have.

Using blogs with K-12 students has been successful for many teachers. Andy Carvin interviewed Janice Robertson who is an English teacher in Ontario, and she is very pleased with her results. She stated that she found that by using blogs to interact with her students she has more responses to the assignments that she assigns. Many of her students feel that they have more freedom when responding online than they would during the classroom lectures.
The main course that she uses her blog page for is her reading education class. She has found that students tend to respond more promptly to the reading questions than ever before. Because they are able to review the responses of other students it helps them to express their feelings about a particular novel or reading very easily.
Ms. Robertson considers her blog page to be very successful. One of her main concerns was that the students be able to bypass the filters and log on to her site. She stated that they seemed to be handling the situation rather well.

Some have even went as far as using it to help inform students about their health, schedules, assignments, and even news. One teacher, Marcia Musings has using her blog page very interestingly. One of her stories is about how teachers face difficult problems dealing with the handicaps of students. For example, if a student suffers problems with asthma, some teachers might find it difficult to handle a crisis situation. Therefore, her blog page offers teachers education about how to handle students who suffer from similar illnesses. If a teacher is expecting a student who suffers from seizures, she can go to the blog page and gain some form of knowledge about the symptoms of an onset seizure and what she should do.
Also on her website she has links to other sites for parents and students information. I found this site to be really interesting because it was well designed and provided students with links such as, online resources, how to use the internet, games, parents and students and also career opportunities. Students are also able to see the responses of other schools about community news and programs.

Technology has advanced so much that many students know how to successfully navigate on a computer by the age of 8. Much emphasis has been placed on the well-being of students so that they will be able to access information that they are expected to comprehend. If there is a question about a particular subject matter, students are able to access online information that will help them. This is a very powerful tool to have and I feel that it is needed.
Technology in America is advancing very fast. Before long, the information that we are aware of about computers will not be up-to-date. The information we know now will be basic information for our children. However, it is important that we absorb as much information possible in order to keep in tune of what is going on around us.

There is a need for students to have access to resources outside the classroom setting. The Alabama Department of Education provides online services to meet their needs. ACCESS is a program which enables faculty and students to engage in online coursework for areas of interest they may not be able to access. This program also provides students with course information for individuals who may desire to take distance learning courses while in high school. Before a student can have access to these services they are requested to provide the department with permission from their school. This service is free to students and they are required to have access to a local computer, necessary software, textbooks, and internet services. Any parent faculty who feels that a student will benefit form these online courses can notify school administrators.
According to the information provided on the website, Alabama is a national leader for online services for high school students. It is also a resource for faculty and school administrators to be able to broaden coarse material. Personally, I wish there were online courses available to students when we were in high school. This website would have been very helpful whenever there was a difficult subject matter that students needed special attention to. I do remember having to go on the computer bus for additional studies, but the information was not accessible at home. This is a really neat way to share information.

For example, the Library Media obtains information about book reviews from other faculty which briefly describes the content of reading materials that one may choose to use within the classroom. This is very helpful for many faculty because much of the textbooks used has to be approved before entering the classroom. Because one of the most important subject matters in school is reading, it is important that teachers have access to books that have proven to be helpful for a particular subject matter. This information is also helpful because it eliminates faculty who spend a lot of time filtering and sorting through reading material.
This information would be valuable to me for reviewing textbooks. If I had to review a book for the first time, I could check the site to see the responses of other faculty who may be using the same book or those who have reviewed the book. First Post
I am a returning student who has decided to return to school for a degree in Education. This is a very exciting period in my life because I am finally ready to achieve another goal. It is very important that I achieve my goals so that I will be an example for my children. Hopefully one day, they will follow in my footsteps and achieve higher goals than I have.
